Top class hotel and staff. The hotel is situated in its own private gardens with a Shinto Shrine along with a waterfall and lakes. There are many dining options and the bar i tried was great. The spa facilities were incredible too. The pool and saunas were perfect temperature. There isn’t much to see or do locally by the hotel but there is a handy bus stop outside for a quick transit to the Yamamoto Line. In Tokyo that line gets you anywhere you need more or less. Although the hotel pictures make the decor seem very chintzy and dated, in reality it works well and is very classy. This has to be one of the best hotels in the city. The staff are very highly trained and exceptionally polite and helpful. The suite upgrade is worth the money. Access to the executive lounge brings food and snacks and also alcoholic drinks from lunchtime. The room was enormous although no dining table. I would return without hesitation. Superb.

Overall, I loved this hotel. The building is beautiful, the food exceptional, the gardens and grounds breathtaking. The mist experiences were a highlight of every day. The breakfasts were fun too: the Japanese breakfast was huge and beautiful. The western breakfasts were were much smaller (and the American surprisingly small), but generally very good. The room was nice, although I was upset I was booked in a city room (I had a travel agent book the room). It was a waste of the hotel. Definitely get the garden room. I have 3 complaints though: (1) that the pool/hot spring required paying extra. As others have said, for such an expensive hotel, that should have been included. (2) Despite being closed to the public, the gardens could be extremely crowded and loud. There are conferences in this hotel, with some people using the gardens to have loud networking conversations that prevent others from enjoying it. (3) Customer service could be better. For example, our booking was supposed to include a special breakfast buffet on Sundays, and for that, I was given a card that said the buffet was at 8am in a certain room. Come 8am, that room was being used for a conference meeting. My husband checked with the staff, and they said the breakfast had been delayed until 8:30am in a different space, which meant my husband and I couldn't go even though we'd planned our day around what we thought was supposed to be a special meal. When we complained about the unannounced change, the staff seemed mostly annoyed, barely offering an apology, let alone trying to make up for it. For such a fancy hotel, I would have expected more effort to make up for their mistake.

We had an absolutely beautiful 2 nights here to end our trip in Tokyo and it was lovely. The staff were the absolute highlight and couldn’t do enough for you. The mist garden is also spectacular and only for paying guests so never crowded. Rooms and bathrooms are huge and old luxury style, this isn’t a new modern top tech place but we loved the old regal feel. Only two notes are it not the most connected vs staying in Shinjuku and I did not like the fact the pool and gym facilities were extra money, given this is not cheap I’d expected to use the facilities included in the room rate. 100% will come back next time we visit Japan and highly recommend.

The hotel: Please note we did not stay at the hotel but it looks like a beautiful hotel (I understand it used to be a Four Seasons hotel before) The Buffet dinner: Our family went to the buffet dinner. It was rated so well on IG and other online reviews but honestly it was very disappointing. I give the buffet a 2 star rating. The food was mediocre at best; especially for $100 per person. I think they should get rid of the all you can drink alcohol and just improve on the food quality since there were mostly families there with kids that don’t drink. The service was very good though. The prime rib was dry and so thinly sliced you had to keep going back to the table to get more. I think an average person could eat 5-6 plates of the prime rib. The western food seemed catered to kids (corn dogs and French fries ? Really ? Ironically we thought the corn dogs were some of the best items at the buffet). The buffet atmosphere was just a large open room with NO view of the garden. If it had a view it might be worth dining there (but it didn’t) The Garden: I would rate the garden at 5 star rating. It was especially beautiful at night time when they turned on the mist. It made for beautiful photos. Would we go back again ? NOT for the buffet ! We would only go back to walk around the garden.

Fantastic hotel. My wife asked me what I liked the best and all I could say is everything. The hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I debated staying at the Four Seasons but am so glad we stayed here. Best staff I have ever encountered. I was worried the hotel would be too fancy or dated. But it was elegant and very well maintained. The location was perfect. Close to downtown but not too close. A quick and easy subway ride away from Ginza and everything else. I recommend splurging for an executive suite with a garden view. The rooms are large for Tokyo. The gardens are beautiful. As a runner, the paths along the canal and in the neighborhood are great. I also enjoyed the fitness room. Finally, the executive lounge and restaurants are top notch.
